HR1 - Funding the US Govt through Sept. 30
« on: February 23, 2011, 10:34:55 AM »
The house passed this and sent it along to the Senate.  Current funding expires next week.  There were a few amendments to the bill which I thought may be of interest to hunters and I put those in a list.  If the bill passes the senate and is signed by the president, these rules will be in effect until the end of September.

Approved budget reductions:
33. Reduce funds used for the Klamath Dam Removal by $1,897,000.
39. Reduce funding for Dept. of Interior, BLM by $2 million.
47. Reduce the EPA, Environmental Programs and Management account by $8,458,000.
48. Reduce by $10,000,000 the EPA, State and Tribal Assistance Grants account.

Approved funding prohibitions: (the government shall not fund...)
85. Payment of fees and expenses USC Title 5, Section 504.
Sponsor was Rep. Lummis from Wyoming.  I presume the intention of this one is to reduce the flow of our tax dollars to groups like Defenders of Wildlife who are essentially suing the government and being paid by the government through this law to do so.
101. EPA implementing, administrating, and enforcement of any statutory or regulatory requirement pertaining to emissions of greenhouse gasses.
123. Enforcement of the travel management rule relating to the designation of roads, trails, and areas for motor vehicle use, in any national forest.
126. Requiring a person licensed under USC Title 18, Section 928 to report information to the Department of Justice regarding sale of multiple rifles to the same person.
134. Designing, renovating, construction, or rental of any headquarters for the United Nations in any location in the United States.
145. Construction of any ethanol blender pump or storage facility.
151. EPA, Corp of Engineers, or Office of Surface Mining to carry out, implementing or administering any memorandum issued by the EPA.
154. Contributions to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.
156. Any action related to the EPA administrator’s decision to increase allowable ethanol content to 15%.
157. EPA administrator carrying out section 404(c) of the Federal Water Pollution Control Act (disposal sites affecting groundwater).
158. EPA developing, proposing, finalizing, implementing, administrating, or enforecement of any regulation that identifies or lists fossil fuel combustion waste as hazardous waste subject to regulation.

From our state:
Approved: A proposal by McMorris to increase education grants for the disabled to last year's levels and reduce school improvement grants and teacher quality grants by necessary amounts to fully offset outlays.
Failed: A proposal by Inslee to reduce Fossil Energy account by $20 million to fund alternative energy research instead.
Failed: A proposal by McDermott to prohibit funding of the project to move NOAA from Seattle to Newport, Oregon.

I agree.
Welcome to liberal America, where the truth is condemned and facts are ignored so as not to "offend" anyone
