Not sure why, but my dog (8 1/2 year old choco lab) almost never poops even in his outside kennel, which is covered with cedar shavings and is a 10x10.  I clean poop out of his kennel maybe one time every 2 weeks, and no it's not stacked to the ceiling, maybe a shovel full in that amount of time.  He gets out of the kennel and screws around for a few minutes then ehads out back.  He just likes pooping out back and avoids even pooping in the actual mowed area of the yard.  Just got lucky I guess.  One thing I could recommend for your problem is playing fetch with your dog for 10 minutes before heading to work in the morning.  That always seems to work one outta my dog for sure.

That is funny because my folks choco lab is the same way. I don't think I can remember the last time she crapped in her kennel and she has been in there for 12 hours straight before. She is the same way in that she likes to go out back into the woods or pasture to do her busn.

Finally brought the dog back in to sleep in his crate... NO MUD!  :IBCOOL:  Noting worse than cleaning up dog crap in the house.

Our two year old lab is that way as well. He will hardley ever poo in the kennel and will not poo in any mowed area unless it is covered by snow. We trained him to "potty" almost on command as it seems to pay off on long rides in the car. Now when we let him out at night before bed we say potty and he does his thing. Works great. Sounds like getting up a bit earlier and a bit of fetch would help out. Changing the feeding times would be a good idea as well, if you feed her a certain amount perhaps feeding her during the day would allow her time to eat as well as get to business done before bed and then be ready first thing in the morning. Good luck.

I have a 10'x30' gravel dog run that my dogs stay in all day long.  I trained them to only "potty" (1 and 2) in their dog run.  It was very easy to do and only took about two weeks before they had it down pat.  And this way I don't have to worry about land mines in the yard and dead spots in my grass.  Teaching a dog to go on command is very useful, and seems to be very easy to teach them.  I would suggest trying to teach her the "go potty" command, so she will go in the morning before you kennel her up for the day.

She has learned the peeing part no problem and will pee on command but its the crapping that she hasn't learned. Yesterday she actually crapped in the corner of her kennel then somehow moved her bowl from one side of the kennel to the other and ran it through the crap.  :puke:
