archery mule deer??

hi this i my first year archery hunting for mule deer. i have bin a modern rifle hunting the past years and with good success with whites and mules and one black tail but i am hunting out of pocatella idaho this year with my rifle so i desided to hunt Washington with my new hoyt maxxis 31. i live in kitsap so its hard to scout the other side of the mountains regularly and would like any help at all i have hunted okanogon,dayton,rimrock, the most but open to new area and ok with high hunts just looking for a good spot and stalk mule deer unit

Of the areas you mentioned, the Dayton area ought to be better than most and as good as anything.

I recommend a book by Dwight Schuh called "Hunting Open Country Mule Deer"

I would also suggest heading out during the later part of the season. I believe (dbl check the regs) some of the areas are also antlerless/ 3 pt towards the end of the season. I'd take a last day doe over tag soup.

If you want a good mule deer buck in velvet, I would consider packing into GMU 244; someplace like Buck Creek Pass, Chiwawa Basin, Spider Meadows or the Entiat Meadows.  Hunt the first week of September.  There are probably some good spots on the north side of Lake Chelan and north of Winthrop as well.  You can also shoot a doe at most any of the trailheads.

Obviously, you should put in for the late season tags.
