Wenas Yotes
« on: February 27, 2011, 02:06:01 PM »
They sounded this morning right behind my house.  It was just light.  I grabbed my slippers and a mac shirt and the 25-06 out of the gun safe and two rounds.  They were quiet by the time I made it outside.   I caught a glimpse of one about 400 yards out right in line with a neighbor.   I'm guessing the rest went behind his house.  i was going to post on here and have some of you diehards go nail them off of Sheep company.   I decided to go photograph ducks and on the way in Spotted JDB headed my direction.  I'm hoping he was hunting and he nailed a couple of these *censored*s.

Then on the way home I spotted one just down from my house.   I guess I could have sniped him, but let him eat gophers.  Watched him for about 45 minutes.  A hunter rig went by eyeballing him.

boneaddict!   Do you remember you're on team "Admin" in the Coyote Madness contest?   :dunno:   We could use some more points, especially with tomorrow being the last day!

Tomorrow is the last day?
Damn! I should have made some stands today. For some reason I thought it went through the end of bobcat season.

Yotes have been scarce the past few weeks.

Demontang, JDB and Bone know this area in the Wenas.

Taken yesterday. Can you spot the Yote in the photo?

He was really moving

I have seen so many coyotes in that exact spot.  In fact I think one of my photos I put in the contest were from there.  Thats funny.  They're pretty smart about getting to safety there though. :chuckle:

PS, the coyote I watched was a HIGH FENCED coyote.  Somehow he got in. :chuckle:   He is ina feild with a thousand or so calving cows.  I bet his tummy is full if nothing else that placentas or after birth.  The coyotes have really started moving in becasue of all the cattleman calving right now in the valley.

I was just kidding. I'm sure there must be a coyote there somewhere but I can't find it.

I generally don't see that when I spot an "opportunity" dog... they are usually running hard looking for some thing to dive under or through not over......  :dunno:

THey're coming in good.  Going to be hard to pick em up right now with any sort of rabbit call or whatever.  They are eating well.  I wondered if there was a distressed calf call out there.  I think if you hit the fringes of the LT along the fence or close to civilization you could hammer dog them.

He won't do that again.   Daze stepped out the door to go to school and spotted him.  Grabbed the 25 and one shell.  He paused 300 yards out.  BOOM.  4 legs straight up in the air.  A little late for our competetion, but felt good anyway and it made Daisy happy.
