Yeah, i made good use of the dry weather and potting bench i made for the wife with an old narrow and long pallet lol!

i did a little preparing for memorial day trip.

Today i coated the stock with 15 coats of Danish oil in natural.
let that sit while i worked on the other stuff Looks good although i will want to still inlay something in the patched areas later on.
i sprayed the actionm barrel and alot of little parts and let them dry, i didnt bake it because i will remove it all again after the camping trip over memorial day.

I used VHT fireproof spray on it, i like the looks. however i noticed i drilled the rear scope base crooked somehow, even though i used the jig i see its possible to screw something up. Oh well i will plug the rear hole and use a one piece scope mount anyhow then hide the rear hole with a screw, paint over it, sand it flush then paint it again. later on i will use durracoat or another name brand gun paint. this stuff works well if you have an oven to use, i dont right now though.

I also changed the bolt handle over the past week to a remington 700 handle & knob. Its still too tall for normal height scope rings though, i will have to stick with taller rings or try a smaller scope. i guess its fine though, i will see when i shoot it at camp..but this way the safety still works too.

im going to go ahead and grind on the bolt a little more so it will slide under a shorter set of rings, i cant stand tall rings.
will have to figure out a different safety device since this one will be inoperable now.
maybe i will just order the sporter safety and call it good.

got the bolt reworked again, now have short rings and a different scope on it, wanted the wide view new bushnell i have on there. oh well.
i will bend the bolt handle to fit my good scope later on, dont want to remove much more steel off the bolt handle until i see how the rifle functions on a range day.

if anyone has a bunch of .223 ammo near kent they dont want let me know i may buy some off you.

I have a buehler. Timney makes a knockoff. They work well.

my buddy did mine for me, all that it was is a cutoff wheel on a die grinder, cut the bolt off where i wanted it cut, then got a different bolt and cut the handle off that too and married them together with a TIG welder.

i didnt do it myself but it was really basic work if a person knows TIG welding.

if you can cut the parts, many welding shops will do it for a nominal fee of around $40 or less.

Not near Kent but I will give you some .223 ammo
