I just picked up the Gerber Bear Grylls ultimate knife yesterday it's pretty cool with all the features it comes with.
pummel on the base of the handle.
emergency whistle on the lanyard.
nice rubber grip.
partially serrated blade.
fire steel.
sharpening stone.
sheath with multiple carry options.
mini survival guide and emergency signal guide.
rubberized sheath with a friction fit clamp in case you forget to secure it.
Has three holes in the handle for tying it to a stick/limb for a spear.

it doesn't give any specifics it only says "high carbon stainless steel"

A good buddy of mine gets killer deals on Gerber products so if he gets one on this, I might have to check it out. I have alot of knives but one more couldn't hurt..

I found this about it. "440A steel with a Rockwell score of 55-59 (57+/-2)"

I read some reviews on it and almost everyone said it was cheaply made and their biggest complaint was the thing on the end to use as a hammer. One guy said he used it to crack a chestnut and it broke.

yeah i read some bad ones on cabelas but with my past experience gerber/fiskars i thought i would give it a try anyway. looks to be built similarly to the lmf II and prodigy which both have good reviews on the web.

Yeah, pretty much looks like the LMF as you mentioned, with some extra bells and whistles. I bought the LMF 2 years ago cause it was beefy, had the sharpner, could use as a spear thingy and looked like a decent overall general knife....all that. I strapped it upside down to my pack straps for a couple hunts, but after that...forget it. It stays at home every time. Waaay to big and heavy.. And didn't like the edge on the blade. This is never gonna be used for your day to day stuff that a pocket flip knife does or to skin/gut an animal. Frankly it just sat there and looked cool but lacked any real quality for real use. The sharpener built into the sheath is worthless for any real edge IMO and that blade just is never gonna get razor sharp like a quality bushcraft knife with a scandi grind blade. I love knives, which is why I bought it, but overall it's not something I'll lug around into the backcountry.

The last deer I got, I field dressed with my Gerber folder that I've had since the early '70s. 3" blade. Need anything bigger, get an axe. I lost my pocket knife a few years back, and replaced it with one with a serrated blade. Most worthless POS I ever had. I'll never buy a knife with a serrated blade again, unless it's a steak knife. If I sound like an opinionated old bastich, well, that's what I am. With age comes experience.

Your right I usually just use these two KOA muskrat and my S&W caper. not my pics just grabbed them from Google .
