the mountain bike is at the bike shop getting tuned up and dialed in and the bow is at the nock point getting new string, cables, rest, paper tune, arrows re-wrapped and fletched and dialed in. i am getting fired up for my first archery hunting season ever this year.

now if i can just figure out where i'm hunting.

i was just up there last night getting new string for my recurve. there is alot of bows in there getting tuned up and stuff.

I've been shooting my bow all spring. I have busted up some shafts and some kids borrowed my arrows permanently so I am going to put the jigs to work soon to turn out some new arrows. Glad I have a stick bow. Not much tuning needed. The problem for me is that I have to find time to hunt elk and then I have to find some elk to hunt.

my bike had some issues that i didn't want to mess with for reliability reasons. my bike is another toy i haven't used much in the last couple years, and my intent is to get into riding to get in shape and access some wetside elk areas, so i don't want it to be breaking because i didn't do something right.

i am trying to decide wether or not to get the jigs and stuff to build my own arrows. not sure if i shoot enough to justify buying the stuff needed to get it done. i don't have enough room as it is for my fly-tying stuff, so i haven't gotten into reloading or building my own arrows yet.

As much as I love the hunting season, I think I enjoy the preparation for hunting season just as much.  I shoot my bow basically every day more for fun than true practice.  I like being able to diagnose my form issues and equipment problems.  I've got all the tools and equipment to work on bows now, and I spend quite a bit of time in my shop working on mine or one of my buddies' bows.  I shoot 3D pretty much each weekend and love doing that.  I would like to think that my shooting skills for hunting are being sharpened when I'm practicing hard for 3D shoots, but I'm relatively proficient in the woods, also.  I've been bowhunting for 22 years now and wouldn't trade a minute of the time I've put into it for anything.  All the effort and money put into archery is worth it to me for a scraggly mule deer doe or a bear or turkey, or whatever else.  The chances of drawing a tag here in WA don't bode well for shooting a bull every year, but that's fine with me because I have just as much fun calling and videoing for someone who is lucky in the draw.  If I don't draw here, then I'm off to Idaho again on another adventure!

 You and me both. I've been shooting the new Parker as much as possible. I am going to get some of my first scouting in this year next weekend. I made the mistake of having my bike serviced at Center Cycle, they actually TOOK our bolted on drink holders and didn't give them back and charged us $150 for doing jack *censored* to our bikes, still squeak, still rub. Likely won't be using mine for hunting this year though.

Sorry to hear that. I found a lot of places are like that. When I found a good mechanic I used them for all my business. I have had good luck at Sammamish cycle and also at the Performance Bicycle shop in redmond.

mine is at a shop in everett. the guy is a friend of a co-worker. it's the first i've ever sent a bike to a shop for a tune up. hopefully it goes well. i don't mind paying if the work is done right.

where are you shooting your bow?

 I shoot primarily at Tacoma Sportsman's, though I'm looking for more places to shoot that are closer.

I've still got to get a spot set up with my yardage marked.  I can shoot at the house.  Use to shoot at Olympic but looks like they have shut down.  I've heard rumor that they will re-open but who knows.

  I already need to go get more arrows.  I bought a dozen and only got 6 of them.  Screwed one of them last weekend and I'm sure it wont be the last befor hunting season.  Their goes another $120.

I'm up to about 18 miles per day on the trek and am shooting a 3d every week......its almost time to really ramp up the shooting....I use a shop in Redmond for my bicycle tuning

ive been shooting everyday for the last 2 months. im shooting a stick bow so i need to get as much practice as possible. im in my comfort zone out to 25yds. which is good enough for me.

im gonna buy a mountain bike aswell for scouting this season and to get in some gates i found last season for deer that were locked.
