Long Lake in Spokane County
« on: March 20, 2011, 08:53:33 AM »
Ok so i have that long lake would be a good lake to get into some smallies but the only place to launch is in the river and then navigate out to the lake.  Does anybody have any advice on weather it is a decent launch site

Hey there bass2elk, Long lake certainly has some good smallmouth fishing. The lake is real high and muddy right now, so you may want to wait a bit. I can think of at least 3 public launches there too. PM me and I'll hook you up.

I fish long lake a lot in the spring and Summer, the river launch is good, but it gets shallow and you have to pay attention to the markers in the water. I prefer the other half of the lake mostly because there is less jet skiers and recreational boaters. Good luck and let me know if you have any more questions.
WDWF needs to get a clue before it's to late!!!

There's a DNR launch towards the bottom of the reservoir, down past Tum Tum, but it won't open until sometime in May/June.

Nine Mile Resort has another launch, cross the river just past the 9mile dam.

The confluence is not my favorite but the resort doesn't open until 4/15. Pay mind to the river channel, there are several flats where I see people get stuck or run over laydowns..

Some great crappie fishing in there also quite a few years ago.  Not sure if it still is.

I want to take my boat out and wet some lines (and hopefully catch a few fish too) but just when i think i am ready to go somewhere someone comes up with a halfway legitimate excuse for me not to go there.  I checked out Liberty Lake for myself and the launching conditions there are not condusive for my boat right now.  I think i will stop listening to the Nay Sayers and just take my boat to Roosevelt Lake, that is if the launching facilities are good, or open.  Porcupine Bay?  Anyone, please help i am pretty sure i will have a stroke if i cant go fish soon.  Ok maybe its not that bad but i am most certainly ready.
