Tikka T3 Lite
«
on:
March 21, 2011, 11:31:44 AM »
So I picked up a new Tikka T3 lite in stainless this weekend. I had a Leupold VX-III to put on it already. I know that the gun comes with these OptiLock rings and I had heard good things about them.
So... I get the gun and and I really like it. I have a feeling it will be a shooter for sure. But... what is up with those horrible rings? They are really cheap. The screws for the rings look like super cheap zinc screws and the rings are really light, too light.
Anyone use these things? How did they work out for you? Have they changed the rings? I am pretty surprised how cheap they are. It seems like they should be included with a fixed 4 bushnell rimfire scope for maybe $9.99.

Littlejohn,
Do they look really cheap to you? I am wondering if they have recently changed to a cheap one. Mine feel like plastic and as if they wouldn't hold up on a rimfire. How old are your Tikkas?

Put a set of dead nutz on my t3 and they are the best rings Iv'e ever used including my talleys. By them online for less than 50.00. I would't want a cheap pair of rings too ruin a hunting trip.

I've got Opti-Locs on my Sako and love em. I've pulled the scope a couple times over the years(separating rings and bases)and have been still in the bull when I re-installed the scope. 30-06. I like em. About 500 shots and 7 years of hunting.
I've got Leupold rings/bases on two other rifles with no complaints there either.

We have a couple and use the factory rings. I have not had any problems with them. But I am not running any mag calibers, in the tikka's.

I have 3 Tikka T3 lites and don't/won't use the factory rings. Anybody want my unused ones?

I basically can't use them because of eye relief. I use a weaver or picatinny rail for more adjustment options
