DROID X FOR PREDITOR CALLING
« on: March 28, 2011, 02:36:08 PM »
So i just loaded a couple of free predator apps on my Droid X.  I have a small but very load powered speaker and am heading out this evening to give it a try.  I have played it right along side my Fox Pro and I can't tell any difference in the sound quality or volume.  The only draw back is the lack of remote.  If this works how cool will that be to have a pocket call.

I used the MP3 player in my cell phone for two years with the Cass Creek Powerhorn.  Worked great.

Yes you can get one for the I-Phone...my buddy's got one on his.
And another bud has one on his crackberry whatever system that is.

I downloaded the free app on my Droid X and seems to have a good sound. Not sure if it's loud enough to call in a Coyote from far off. I'm thinking about just getting a a true electric caller. Just so expensive for a good one.

What about a cheap cassette boom box? You can get a rabbit in distress tape or CD at Wholesale Sports or Cabelas. Keep it under a tarp if it's wet out.

Here's one I set up years ago using a battery powered computer speaker with a built in amp and volume control.  It will work with just about any sound source.

After the first shot the rest are just noise.

What are the names of the apps you downloaded?  I bought a fox pro, but would still like to check out the other options.

Just look under your free apps for Preditor. There are a number of free apps and apps you can buy. I downloaded the "coyote hunting calls" that was free. It has a number of calls to choose from.
I live on the westside and have a big farm field next to me that has about 10+ coyote's that i'm going to work on. And yes it's legal to shoot them there too.

Please post a review on them when you have had a chance to determine an outcome.

I found two free ones for my Droid X. One I uninstalled, but the other (Coyote Hunting Calls) has 14 different sounds, and is pretty good. That said, all of my yote calling has been by cassette with a cheap player. Built in speaker and all. My father-in-law also used them to good result. Man, those new remote callers are tempting though!

I'm downloading it right now. I have a good external speaker and am excited to see what it can do. Keep in mind, if you hunt pressured areas, sometimes having a sound that is a little different can peak interest of wary dogs.
