I think if you guys shoot a few hundred rounds thru paper targets at those ranges with those guns you are in for a real eye opener. My 2. :hello:
Carl

I haven't shot paper with mine since I sighted it in when I changed the scope last but yeah it was shooting measured groups at under an inch with the 4x that was on it before, my typical targets are expended 12ga and 410 shells at 80-100 yards. It is without a doubt my most accurate rifle.
The reason there are so many Ruger upgrades is because they're necessary.

I guess we should talk about ammo.  What do you think would be a good accurate round?
You're asking the wrong crowd.  Only your gun can answer that question.  What works well in one gun may shoot very poorly in yours.  The great news is that .22 ammo is relatively inexpensive.  Try out several different brands; I think you will be surprised how much variation you get.

Alright sounds good.  Ill just acquire 4 or 5 different types and hit the range.

Try more than that, try as many as you reasonably can until or unless your goals are achieved.

The 22rimfire will kill out to 150yds, but at 200, you're pushing things. And, with rem bulk ammo, you've got a pipe dream going. My target rifle with 32x scope will easily shoot moa at 100yds. The target below is at 75yds watching the wind flags carefully with target ammo. The rifle has a 14oz trigger, has a 24" bull barrel and weighs in at near 14 pounds with scope. At 200yds, it does shoot sub 5" groups on a calm day if I do my part, but even temperature differences between muzzle and target that far away will buffet a bullet that is slowing down. At that distance, the bullet rotation does not lend to the best down range BC.  Don't expect that your 'tack drivin break action' plinker will do that well with bulk Remington ammo.

Yes, that is an excellent article. I get another 50fps or so with the long barrel so I was dialing in about 25moa for 200m.

In terms of wind drift, shooting a 22 LR at 150 yards is equivalent to shooting a .308 at 330 yards.

There was a guy at our range that ran a similar rimfire challenge to 200m a couple years back. There wasn't a short skinny barrel in the mix. Bung tuners, incredibly light triggers, NightForce scopes on rimfire guns. You'd think they were shooting F-Class!  :chuckle:
