I did a mid-asian ibex hunt in Kyrgyzstan with Profi Hunt in 2007. I had a great time. I hunted in the later part of October and it was bitter cold with the ibex being very spooky as it was the last hunt of the year. The local guides were very friendly and more than competent. We did have an interpreter but he stayed in camp during the day as he didn't like the horses much. We would leave camp about 2-3 hours before light so we could get to the ibex and still have time for a stalk. We saw ibex every day but lots of them were just to far or in poor places for a stalk. The other hunter and I killed our billies out of the same group of 10-12 on day 4 if I remember correct.
I think the cost of the hunt was $4,500 and with airfair and hotels, tip and all was around $8,000.00
I do have to say the travel part of the trip sucks. Nothing really bad went wrong it just sucks having to hang out in some of the international airports.
