Anyone gearing up to fish springers in ID?

 The first few springers have gone over Lower Granite... I will be headed to the Salmon river in mid May for hopefully another good year..last year was alot of fun down there and alot of fish

seems to me those fish would be outta shape and ugly that far up,is this true? or do they race up and still look ok and taste good :dunno:

Eastside fish never look like the fresh ones you can catch over there. Dang, I miss fresh salmon.. The best I've seen over here we're pretty well "bronzed"..

The fish up here in Idaho are great fish! They are built different than lower river Springers, more fat stored up and you would be surprised to see some of the fish we catch up here. They are not as chrome as the ones fresh out of the ocean but they are still really nice fish! I cant wait for there to be enough fish over the dam for a guy to have a decent chance at catching one!

They are excellent table fare..I gave away some to friends and family and several said it was some of the best salmon they have ever ate.I would agree it is quite good. I wouldnt care if I had to let them go tho..I love to fish and the meat is a added bonus to being doen there in that amazing country. Here are some pics of fish from last year

I would fish that river more if they would let you keep 2 more often..oh and a boat :chuckle:..I ve banked it a few times with no success. I have places on the salmon from the bank that or loaded with fish and everyone just walks by!  :chuckle:
