Almost had a real problem.
« on: May 25, 2008, 12:58:42 PM »
First off I finally got a chance to go hunting with my spring tag. I found a TON of good sized sign all within a 1/2 mile stretch of logging road so I'm headed there right now for tonights hunt and early tomorrow. Hopefully I'll find that mess maker. Didn't find any tracks so not sure on the size but the piles were HUGE.

The problem was that I saw a cub and sow in another spot on the way out. Had I not seen the cub first I would have orphaned that cub. Sometimes the stars are aligned properly I guess. This bear was big for the area I was surprised it was a sow. Anywho I'm going to sit tight in the spot with the good sign. I hope to see that bear.

I've hunted these buggers hard for about 4 years and have yet to pull the trigger. I see bears all the time but out of season and it's beginning to drive me crazy.

Wish me luck fellas, I need it.

I do wish you luck. Bear hunting is a lot of fun. I shot a good sized sow yesterday so it can happen. I sure thought she was bigger. They are mighty hard to judge. I hope you will be able to take a respectable boar, Rufous.

 >:(Struck out! These bears are driving me mad!!! The country is so thick that I'm just not seeing them. The sign is thick, picked up some great tracks and hunted hard last weekend to no avail. Well I've got 1 more day that I can hunt and I'm gonna give it a go. We'll see.

My buddy was turkey hunting in 101 and saw bears every day!!!!!!!  >:( Wish I would have applied for that unit. DANG IT!!!!

Have you tried calling them?  If the sign is fresh you should have excellent luck at calling one in.
