Beautiful Bear..Sounds like a well earned trophy...
Now therefore, please take your weapons, your quiver and thy bow, and go out to the field and hunt game for me

Thanks everyone! It was a great hunt! I wish someone was there  to film it but you can't always make that happen. Been having a great time with Jeremy and his great family. Was hoping to stick around for some ling cod fishing on the first. But the weather has turned and the winds are up, along with the snow line dropping to 500ft! :yike: where I shot my bear now has 1-2" of new snow. Glad I got it done when I did and my efforts where rewarded with a outstanding trophy. I will be getting a skull measurement when I take the rug and head to a taxidermist after the drying time. Maybe the head competition will go back to a skagit bear  ;) thanks to everyone for reading and following my quest for a spring bear. Matt... aka carpsniperg2

I hate spring bears!  Their hide looks so damn good!   :)

I don't think there's much of anything better than a solo hunt and stalk on an animal on that critter's home turf. Success is the icing on the cake.  Great job Matt!

Welcome to the wet side!  :chuckle: :bash: :chuckle:

Congrats!

Sweet bear.

I just got my Skagit spring bear from last year back from the taxi a couple days ago. It turned out nice. It looked a little smaller than yours and I was guessing about 200 lbs on mine- live weight.

Not sure how I missed this post.   :bash:

Great bear Matt....  You sure earned him.
By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

Well I decided to jet home today, after we found out the ling cod fishing wasn't going to happen. Took the extra long way home  :bash: But got to meet Michelle nelson and take her my bear. It was very cool to get to meet her as well. She does some great looking work and I can't wait to see it when its done. She got to see the pics and look first hand at the bear. She agrees on a solid 200lb probably even a little better then that. We also think the skull could go into the washington books with the minimum 18.5", guessing he will be 19-19.5" on the skull. We will just have to wait and see. She is going to clean it then it will have to dry for the time frame needed. Then I will have someone score it before she bleaches it. The trip was a total of 730 miles for me. The truck did good at about 17.5mpg. What a great hunt and trip, even though it was short, it was still sweet with a great trophy bear. He has a dandy long thick coat on him and will make a premo rug. Got to meet some new friends and had a great time. This is one that will be stored deep in the memory banks.
