If houndhunter or Timber and I stalk one and get real close and take its picture, you guys can't laugh at us. ;)

I would not laugh. I bet that I have looked at a few before and never realized it.  :chuckle: :IBCOOL:

I've never seen one, but I do know DFW employs the use of: grouse, deer, turkey and elk. The grouse is a killer, how many grouse do you normally see on roads?

I saw a story a couple of years ago where a guy in Florida pulled up to a decoy whitetail, opened the trunk to his beemer/ mercedes (fancy car, I forget) and pulled out a full auto uzi. He then dumped a full clip into it.
I'll probably never forget that one.

Remind me to keep one of those big red wiffle-bats handy whenever I get back down there.  I'm thinking that it would be fun to film one's self tearing off after the deer armed with the big red wiffle-bat.

Some crazy story's on here...My dad shot one in Wyoming 3 times and was totally legal. They had it set up along the road and were trying to get people to shoot it from their trucks or without orange on..He was totally legal but embarrassed...He said it was a pig buck and couldnt believe it....Those gamies are tricksters gotta watch out...

We ran into one up the Skok about 20 years ago.  It was on a corner where your headlights had to pass across it.  The eyes relected and everything.  We knew what it was so we turned around just past it and dropped me and my cousin out of the rig about a half mile down the road.  We snuck back up and tied a couple beer cans around its neck with bailing twine and one on top of its head then made our way back down the road.  The game cops were just around the corner waiting to hear shots.  They never knew we were in there.  We ran into them at the Haji Mart in Shelton the next day and asked if they had seen any drunken deer wandering around the woods.  The older guy laughed and the kid got pissed.  It is a good thing that they didnt catch us that night because we were all pretty liquored up.  I dont have any sympathy for those who shoot or attempt to shoot the decoys even if they say that they knew it was a fake.  Intent is just that, whether it is to kill and animal or vandalize a fake one it is all the same.

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong but, I believe its not illegal on non-gov property like timber land.

Um, maye 2/10. Probably 95% are legal if thetimber land roads are considered o.k.

Timberland roads are private property and state land is a public roadway. Thats been my understanding. I have heard of the fake grouse at Cap Peak.
Um, maye 2/10. Probably 95% are legal if thetimber land roads are considered o.k.

All this has me wondering...

So private timberlands or okay to shoot from a road? Not talking about out the window of your truck, but if you get out and set up on the side of the road... is that legal?

Or how about any land where it is gated and you walk in? Can you shoot off a road you are walking on, that has no vehicle traffic?
