We have issues every year with coyotes killing calves. I try to give em a break in the spring when they have pups. But if I catch coyotes messing with cattle, they get a dirt nap.

One year ago today I took out 4 pups and one adult male that should have been paying closer attention the the big white truck on the hill. He was sleeping and woke up dead. The little ones should have stayed below deck too!

The rancher wanted them gone and so they are.

The pups are alive and well, won't be touched until November.  I'll try to get some more pics, but it gets harder as they get older.  I've also got four other dens of pups besides these on my property, got really close to one bunch yesterday not even knowing that den was there.  Bad for me though, didn't have the camera.

I think I'm in the same boat as most folks on here. I never hesitate to let the lead fly on an adult 'yote but couldn't bring myself to harm the little ones. No sport in it anyway....wait till they get older and develop into something a little more worthy of my effort.

If found them after taking out their mom I would probably put them down.  Its better than letting them starve out or be ripped apart by another coyote.  One of the most important reasons I started hunting predators was to thin them out.  It doesnt make much sense for me to let them live so they can kill more game.   :dunno:

We have lost thousands of dollars in dead calves over the year. + all the deer and small game+birds they eat. I have no love for them, a dead yote is a good yote. That's the only way I like them!

thats some cute pups... Be pretty heartless untill they were old enough to have a sporting chance

It's not about sport. It's about all of the calves, fawns, pheasent,geese,ducks,ect... that you save. The main reason I hunt is to help my other hunting. Same reason I hunt bear. The only differance is you have a season and limit on bears.
