Turkey scope on Benelli Nova

Added a Bushnell trophy red/green dot scope to my Nova. Here is the pictures on how i mounted it.

1Taped the mount to the gun making sure that it was centered and back from the barrel assembly
2. Drilled the holes into the receiver #8-32.

1. Ran the tap completly thru the receiver.
2. Installed the screws so they are flush with the inside of the receiver
3.  Tools need for the job.

Better set those screws tight. I have the exact same gun. With a turkey choke and Hevi shot that thing kicks like a mule!

2. Added new recoil pad

Good looking job!  You might want to Locktite those base screws though.  Like Elksnout said...that rig will have a bit of recoil.

Yup locktite blue on everything! That new recoil pad should work great.

The scope has lots of adjustment; simular to a rifle scope. I "bore sighted" using a flashlite and adjusted the scope dot to 20 yds. Won't be able to shoot till this weekend. Everything (scope $129, mount $25, recoil pad $45 drills, taps and hardware) were about $210.

I give you credit for taping your shotgun!  Drilling my 870 stock for swivels made me pucker!  I thought about putting a scope on my SBE but opted for the true glow rifle sites...I have to tell ya all they are nice!  Sited them in at 30 yards with a bore sighter...just love how they illuminate with very little light at 0-dark-30.

Not sure where I'm going to sight it in to. I'll try 40 yds and see what that looks like out to 60 and close @ 10. Any way it should be fun playing with it. I'll probably keep this as a permanent set up. Gives me the excuse to buy a new Benelli auto But I think that you could take the scope off and seal the holes and shoot as normal.

Looks like you had fun with this. Very cool. I dunno how confident I would be drilling those holes with a hand drill but maybe there's more wiggle room than I think. Even with a drill press you can be off, but the stability factor is a plus for me. Plus, your cost wouldn't be what it was with a drill press.
