I now that for white tail deer it works but have anyone try use any kind of call for mule or black tail deer?
I did and it works. I used it  one time for black tail and another time for mule deer. Does anyone one here have any experience with that?

I've rattled in and used a bleat/grunt tube for BT...... During ML late season and Modern late season...... I've called in about 15 deer.... Shot 3 of them..... Most of the deer that came in were does or young bucks....  MD I've had very little response because the regular seasons are too early for ML and Modern.... I've called in 4 or 5.... Shot one young 3 point.... All spikes or forks, one small 3... That was with a grunt tube....

Fixed you title from dear to deer :chuckle:

I use a fawn bleat with my mouth to get a deer's intrest sometimes it works to call the does in and other times I just use it to stop them and get them to look back, then Bam! :chuckle:

I've called and rattled in bt's before.  All small bucks and does.  It's a lot of fun when it works.

Most of the time I used a bleat call  it works for me, i cant say that i call them in but i brought their attention and make them stay in open area long enaff to make a shot. First time that was a blacky nice buck i didn't take a shot the season was over but second time that was a mully nice buck. This how it happend: was lost Saturday of the season and we were driving to our hunting spot to find out that near that spot some really nice and smart ppl set up a camp and more then that seems their hunt was over and they start shooting at rocks across the canyon we were mad. Then i decided well lets past their camp any way and try to look around, We got maybe 700-800 yards away from them and i start using that call with out any hope, i did several times and then start looking around at first I could not believe what did I see, that was a buck he was completely confused he was staring at us on the edge of small clearing and he was not leaving. He gave us some time to get rifle ready and take a shot.
Here is a photo of that buck

Ive tried rattling and calling with "the can". Ive never had a response in the last few years doing it. Last year, I set up and rattled and had a small 2 point walk up on a knob and look at me for a couple minutes. That makes me want to try it more often.

The way I look at it, the more often you try it the better your chances. I rattled during modern firearm, in late October. Be careful if you use calls during modern season....

Thats interesting the first time i tried the can I called a spike in, jumped a 2 point a couple hours later and brought him back in. And called a nice 3x4 from big timber right to the edge of a logging road. It was late buck and the deer were rutting hard and we were also 8 miles behind a locked gate. The can has worked since then but never like that day.

called in a 4 point blacky for a friend. Used a doe bleat and he came in hot, dead at 25 yards.

Called in a mule deer buck for my dad - twice.  Second time he stopped broadside at 25 yards and my dad shot him.

Used the cheap little Deer Talker brown square thing with the rubber band on it.

My cottontail Distress call must sound like a fawn bleat 'cuz several times while trying to call coyotes, I've had Mule Deer come in to the call.  I've had very little success rattling and grunting for Whitetails in late muzzle loader season, but it's fun to try.  I get a kick out of seeing animals react to calls anyway.
If it was easy, everybody would be doing it.

When Bernie Madoff did it, it's called a "Ponzi Scheme"
When Government does it, it's called "Social Security"

I have seen countless blacktail come to my dads call he made with 2 small pieces of wood and 3 rubberbands.

cut a small oval shaped grove in both pieces of wood.
put one rubber band in between to pieces of wood (the grove sides facing each other)
use other 2 rubberbands on each end of the wood to hold it together.  the tighter the rubberband in the middle the higher the pitch.

each piece of wood is 4in long, 3/4in tall, 2in deep. when put together Call looks like this

I have called in lots of does and a couple young bucks with fawn distress but nothing with rattling.
I wrote about one call in and have a short video here.

Here is a neat video of it working though.
