m-110, XM-110 or similiar AR frame rifle in 308
« on: May 30, 2011, 11:15:55 PM »
Alright, with all the Ar frame madness going on out there does anyone here use one to hunt with in the 308 version. The area I hunt elk is is very brushy and shots are at 100 Yards max, so to me it makes some sense to try using the M-110 in the Carbine version chambered in 308. I was up there to today walking through the woods and thinking about how cumbersome my high powered bolt gun was and how I would be lucky to get even  one shot off in the crap let alone a second quickly enough before the animal is gone. I generally dont like the 308 round for elk , but anytime the distances are less then 200 yards it has more then enough knockdown power to do the job. Please let me know your thoughts and suggestions.

Thanks

Check out the R-25 I shoot one in the 7mm-08. I like the 7mm-08 better then the 308 myself. you can get that rifle in any of the Cal's based off the 308 like the 7mm-08 and 243. Great guns and they drive tacks. They are built by Remington's sister company dpms, Remington throws some paint on it and ships it out :IBCOOL: The r-15 are built by bushmaster another sister company to Remington. 7mm-08 and 308 are plenty of gun, with the right bullets for any elk out there :IBCOOL:

Thanks for the info, I will look at all of those guns. I never thought I would hunt with one, but one of my favorite places to hunt is perfect for that style of weapon.

Thanks
Joe
