MG's 1st fish
« on: May 31, 2011, 11:57:11 AM »
My daughter Maddie caught her 1st trout this weekend at Evans Pond near Clarkston. It was a trip I will never forget. Like an ungraceful clutz I managed to knock her over landing this monster trout. We didn't manage to get a picture of the actual fish because apparently it was "slimey and yucky" and she didn't want to hold it.

Next step is to get her set up in some waders and  a fly rod and have her casting off the bow of my driftboat in the canyon with her mom.
p.s. hooking a trout with a 2 1/2'  Superman pole and powerbait is a bigger challenge than it seems.

" In today's instant gratification society, more and more pressure revolves around success and the measurement of one's prowess as a hunter by inches on a score chart or field photos produced on social media. Don't fall into the trap. Hunting is-and always will be- about the hunt, the adventure, the views, and time spent with close friends and family. " Ryan Hatfield

Congrats to her on her 1st fish. Would have been a classic pic to see you flopping around in the water trying to get up. :chuckle:
