A bad day in the woods, beats a good day at work. Better luck next year.

Tag Soup here as well. I wish that the Monroe hunt would be open till June 15th, seems like all the good bear sign started showing up the last 10 days for me.
D-Rock425 and I headed up to a spot that was tore up with fresh peels but that bear never showed itself. I did get to see a cougar run across the road in front of me yesterday and saw 3 different bucks that are gonna be nice ones. I put in alot of evenings and managed to only see one bear for the score card. Fun hunt, I don't think I will put in for it again though, I will stick to bear hunting in August.

A lot of people had a hard time this year, it was no wonder with the weather that was going on. At least you got out and got to spend some time in the outdoors! + You made a good efffort! If you look at the stats for the tags about 20% of the tag holders don't even hunt with the tag. Haven't heard from my buddy up there. Been hoping his boy would bust a bear with his tag. I have texted him and not heard back. There is about 10 people on this site that have said they got the skagit tag and I have only heard of mine getting filled. So keep your chin up

spring tag soup for me also.I had the Lick Creek tag.I let my dream bear walk away. I had him dead to rights but he was in a cliff area and I was cliffed out also.My son with me but couldnot carry any weight due to recent back surgery.I knew I couldn't pack him out of the area so I let him go. I spent 19 days hunting in there.Had my horse in there for part of it. he is a young horse and walked off the edge of the road while I was looking up the hilland fell over an old barbed wire fence trapping me under him. after he thrashed around a bit and got uncaught from the wire he jumped up but my foot was hung in the stirrup . He took off running and kicking at me,I took a couple of big skips on my back until me foot came out.Wow man what a ride.It could have been real bad. after all that we had seen 5 different bears but no shots.Too much snow for to long so I couldn't get into alot of the area we like to hunt.I had a great spring in there, and will enjoy the summer riding there.

Holy smokes your one lucky guy.  Have you ever looked at the break away stirups, spendy, but they have saved many a life!

your tag is still good in the fall if you didn't harvest a bear with your permit in the spring.
