Holy crap!! Did that come out of the snake?

Yes, it did come out of the Snake. between my buddy, my brother, and I we have landed 13 smallies in excess of 3 lbs but this one was by far the biggest.

Thanks guys. I am almost 100% catch-and-release year around but occassionally keep a few cats for a fry now and again. We are just EXTRA careful with these spawning females. Most of the time we don't even taken them out of the water except to weigh them for bragging rights. However, and I cannot blame him one bit, my buddy wanted a replica done of this one so he had to get her to the taxi for some proper measurements and more detailed pics. After a slow re-introduction into the river she took off into the deeper water and will hopefully allow us the joy of catching her again one of these days.

That's awesome. I use to fish the snake for the smallies but we never caught anything over 2 pounds.

Whats the length on it?  My buddy pulled a 23.5" smallie out last week.  It was a HOG :yike:

Very nice smallie. Glad to hear it was released. Gotta keep the gene pool going strong.

If I remember right she was just over 20" long and was almost 15" around at the back of the gill plates. I'll have to get the measurements from my brother-in-law.

Impressive fish.  My buddy didnt put a scale to his fish so we're trying to estimate it's weight.  Soo close to breaking that 6lb mark! :IBCOOL:

Dandy of a fish, that beats my best smallieby a few oz. Glad to here she was released. I do eat a few smallies every year. 12 to 15 inchers are great to eat.
I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I'm not!

That is a behemoth of a smallmouth!
