Time to contact senators and reps again.

Two new bills were introduced to require the USFS and BLM to use a portion of their Land and Water Conservation Funds (from off-shore oil leases) for public access.

"Projects identified on the priority list developed under subsection (b) shall secure recreational public access to Federal public land in existence as of the date of enactment of this section that has significantly restricted access for hunting, fishing, and other recreational purposes through rights-of-way or acquisition of land (or any interest in land) from willing sellers."

It is about time Congress addressed this problem, given the amount of Landlocked public land just in Washington State. In SW Washington several USFS trailheads are even landlocked by timber giant Weyerhaeuser!
