States that do not allow 209 primers
« on: July 04, 2011, 09:55:49 AM »
Does any one know which states require the use of #11 caps or musket caps, but not 209 primers in muzzle loaders? Besides Washington obviously.

The primary states that make up the old orginal Oregon Territory... Oregon, first to be granted statehood, then Washington, and finally Idaho, the part of the Idaho Territory they cut off and gave to Montana, well Montana has no ML seasons.

Keep shooting muzzleloaders - They are a blast!!

I believe they are illegal in NM.  I'd have to check the rules.

I am not sure either but I have several forum friends that hunt down there and use 209's, with modern inlines - scopes and all.

I think you are thinking of the traditional seasons.  Where you can't use inlines at all.  NM has a few units like that.

If I remember correctly.. you can use 209 primers in your muzzleloader if you really want to in Washington but you would have to hunt the modern firearm season. Meaning you would have to select modern tag and hunt it as a modern weapon. It would be illegal during any muzzleloader season.
Wild Turkey, Walleyes, Whitetails and Wapiti..These are a few of my favorite things!!
