Steamboat state park-bank fishing with little children

We're going camping Sunday night at Steamboat.  Would love to get my 2 and 4 year old catching a fish from the bank or dock (don't know if steamboat has one, but assuming they do).  Anyone with any advice?

one dock and there are some shore line areas you can bank fish.  There are a couple lagoons that hold a few fish. 

If you want I would take them down to Rufus fishing off the bank.  Stop at Coulee Playland (resort in Electric City) and ask.  About 30 minute drive.  Trout fishing is hot right now.  Kids would enjoy it.
Wild Turkey, Walleyes, Whitetails and Wapiti..These are a few of my favorite things!!

I second what Yelp said. Get the tribal access licence and get those boys some triploids.

The "kids" at playland didn't even know if there were fish from their dock, let alone anywhere else.  We might make the trip to steamboat to camp again in about a month.  Will need to get more specifics about where to fish.  None of the locals seemed to know much.

use marshmallow and worm or powerbait dough (rainbow color)..36" leader above 1 oz egg sinker and swivel.  Use number 2 or 4 octopus hook.  2 fish limit when using bait.

I used to go down there three or four times a summer with my kids.  We would head South out of Electric City, cross the first "bridge"  which goes across Osborn Bay.  A soon as you cross Osburn Bay we'd turn left.  There were LOTS of pull outs all along Osborn that you could fish from and or swim.  We would fish with corn and my kids never had some much fun hauling in 3 to 10 pound carp, one after the other.  I never told them they were trash and they didn't care.  It was a blast for them and me.  There is also alot of bass all along the cattails around Osborn Bay, largemouth and smallies.  If you take a canoe or even an intertube you can slay the bass.  In the evening top water plugs were killing the bass.  Two things, TONS of ticks if you go wadding through the tall grass and there are rattle snakes so you must pay attention, but it's that way all around the shore of Banks.  Lots of places to camp and or fish around Osborn Bay.

Head south to Sun Lakes . They have a big dock there. Fishin is good.
Get some lighted bobbers and fsh at night for trout. It's a hoot.
It's not true that I am good for nothing---I can be used as a bad example!!
