AR-15 rings
« on: July 12, 2011, 05:13:52 PM »
I sold the carry handle upper from my Olympic arms ar, and bought a DPMS flattop. Going to Portland next week to take my daughter to the zoo & figured Id stop at Cabelas and get a scope and rings. I've decided on a Vortex Diamondback in 3x12x40 but I have no Idea which rings to use. Was thinking about the Burris P.E.P.R does anybody have these if not what are you all using. Also what height . Thanks Allen

Warne.

with the flat top, the height will depend on the size of your head. Got a big noggin, probably highs.

I shoot my buddies's AR's and they are pretty unanimous with Warnes as well as i have used warnes on other rifles. made in oregon.

It sounds like it's time to get a new gun.

The PEPR mount is a good choice for the AR platform.  Rock River Arms website also has similar base/ring combos listed.  I ordered those when PEPR mounts were out of stock everywhere.  Glad I did--the RRA unit looks more solidly made, and was even a bit less money.
If it was easy, everybody would be doing it.

When Bernie Madoff did it, it's called a "Ponzi Scheme"
When Government does it, it's called "Social Security"

I use the PEPR and it is PERFECT for me with an A2 stock.  Allows for appropriate eye relief and is high enough that when you pull up, the scope is right there.  Then again, it may depend on the side of your face.

One cool feature of the PEPR is the rail on top of the ring.  I use mine for mounting a flashlight/spotlight.
