« on: July 17, 2011, 10:57:33 PM »
Looking into buy a oregon 450. the one without base topo on it. I want 24k topo. so my qustion is.... Should i buy the one from garmin with all the 3d shading and such, or get one from the free topo place. Does the free ones have any shading? The free place has gmu overlay that i will get for sure. Also gonna get the birds eye view for it. Have you had any experiance with these and this gps. What works for you?  Thanks :hello:

Just went through a whole bunch of crap with my Garmin 60CSx, but I finally got the huntinggpsmaps 24k on it, shows 24k topo, land ownership, and hunting units...
I had the Garmin 24K west on the one that got stolen, loved it, looking forward to seeing how my new one compares.

detail looks good, but as with the Garmin, I want to compare it by actually walking and seeing how it measures up....

I use Terrain Navigator with my Rino...Its awesome but expensive $100-260?/state, work bought mine.  The Pro version is compatible with C.A.D. programs n such.  We use it for Pipeline projects out in the middle of no where.  You can go split screne on your PC between the Terrain Navigator and Google Earth, and they move together.  It also can be used in the vehicle(or wherever your computer can go) hooked up to your gps and show real time tracking.  Goes 3-d and all kinds of hoopla I don't even use.  Its a pretty fun program, but like I said....expensive.
