Pretty much all of eastern Washington is spike bull only OTC unless you go to the northeast corner. The swakane might have an elk in it somewhere....that's a big maybe.

All I can say is if you can't get a shot at a monster bull in the Swakane unit.....then you aint much of a hunter! Why do you think it is any elk???? It is because there are WAYYYYY too many elk in the unit......and way too many MONSTER BULLS! So like I said, you should have No problem harvesting a really good one! Good luck!!

Very few elk.  Void of elk may be a better term.
Don't waste your time, really.  There are a whole lot better options for you much closer to your home.

Fan82, in all seriousness, I grew up in the unit, have hunted it for 30 plus years, probably seen elk tracks about a half dozen times, always singles.  Not really an elk unit.  There may be a few very small holes with elk but usually only the locals know them and they will not tell.  I would go elsewhere, oh wait, I do hunt elsewhere.  Just an honest opinion.

What weapon you using? You meantioned a sea of orange, which would imply you are talking rifle. To my knowledge there are no units you can hunt elk and deer at the same time with a rifle.. I think with your first question and this you might want to read the regs a little better :dunno:

not nagging but you should probably state What weapon you use. When you talk about orange I assumed that you were a gun hunter. Thats why you should never ass u me

Is this a joke? If not someone needs read regs. If you are familiar with a gmu you should at least know what kind of game is there, and when you can hunt them. If you want a big bull tag start putting in for permits like the rest of us. IMHO if someone dosen't have time for a draw hunt then they really don't have time for a general hunt. :twocents:
