barnes 290 grains in knight wolverine
« on: July 30, 2011, 08:33:49 AM »
i shot the barnes 290 grains sabots yesterday in my knight wolverine. i was useing a 100 grains of triple seven. gun seems to not like more than that. they dont shoot good for me at all. i can shoot the 310 grain knight bullets alot better. it shoots the hornandy sst's good as well. this wolverine is in stainless with a thumbhole stock just like the bighorn essentially the same gun just different name. any one took any deer or elk with the 300 grain sst's. i was useing the harvester crush rib sabots with the 310 grain bullets as they load easier. i was shooting at about 75 or 80 yards will shoot 100 next. my group was about 2 inches high at 75 yards should be good at 100 yards. will have to try the barnes t ez sabots instead the tmz's are pain to load. will be a problem if i need a follow up shot.

I shoot the tmz's as well but 290 grain out of my disc extreme.  I was getting a good group at a 100 yards.  Yes they are a pain to load.  I ended up putting some bore butter on the sabot and they went down way easier.
