My second soak
« on: July 31, 2011, 12:33:18 AM »
So after a very dismal first soak I decided to leave the camera for a couple weeks before going to check it.  The first soak had 4 pictures on the sd card and only one was able to be made out.  Lone cow moose.  Second had 105 pics and almost everyone of them had elk in them!  Talk about a confidence boost!  Lots of cows and a small bull or two.  They bumped the camera a couple times and "adjusted" it for me.  Straightened it back out on the tree and was back in business.  The times are actually the opposite but the dates are correct, I set the time wrong.

Saw this little guy on my camera today.  Lots of cows and another small bull that Iv'e already seen before.  This was the first time the big guy showed up on camera though.  Moved the camera slightly to get a better angle on the pictures and hopefully more pictures.  Alot of them have been real close and they seem to be walking right next to the camera to get to the mineral rock.  Just hoping for a little better picture of the big bull.  Looks to be at least a 5pt

Yeah, I'd move the camera away a bit, before those guys discover what a good velvet-scraper your camera makes.
If it was easy, everybody would be doing it.

When Bernie Madoff did it, it's called a "Ponzi Scheme"
When Government does it, it's called "Social Security"

Hmm, I actually hadn't even thought about that.  I moved it to a different tree about 10 ft farther away and to the side.  It should catch them in the same spot as they walk by the old tree.  They have the ground wore down from walking through by the stumps in the pictures.  So I just moved to a different angle.  My dad and I have cow tags so the first elk we see is going to be on the menu at camp.  I'd love to shoot that bull but I'd be just as happy shooting a cow for my first elk.
