well i did the math and at the rate 0f $65/year i am at right now with a broken year old rod it looks like the warranty alone on the st. croix would pay for its self and with nothing negative being said on its behalf I am going to get one on order . Thanks for all the awesome advice, this is a great forum.

If you get a wild River don't use it in a down rigger. I was on the St Croix pro staff but gave my pro staff up and sold the remaining rods that hadn't broke....
Also the Avids break in freezing weather.
21 day turnaround is about one of our Salmon seasons....Always buy 2.

I am a very big fan(as in I have 9 of them) of the Berkley AIR IM8, more a fan of the IM7 before them.  Great rod for $80 locally and 65 from a place I found online. PM if you want the info.

I have an Abu Garcia salmon spinning combo that I got from Bimart, havent caught a ton of fish with it but it holds up pretty well, I think it was around 50-60?
