What area of the Mashel are you planning on hunting?  Is it up on 165?  And what were you planning on hunting?

You need to buy a recreation access permit sold at Work Sports and More in Enumclaw, or Big J's sporting goods in Orting. They cost $350.00, and they are sold out until next year. They go on sale usually Dec. 1st, and are almost always sold out by the middle of January.

Thanks 7mag. Bentley - I was planning on going up off of 165. I am going to hunt early archery elk. This will be my second year hunting, and first year bow hunting. So I don't have high hopes of slaying the giant, but I would really like to get out there and and get something. I was also thinking of possibly thinking of hitting up the Nemah unit also.

They sell 1200 permits and are normally sold out a couple months after they go on sale.  Call Work Sports and Outdoors in Enumclaw and ask for Nate.  Tell him Robert said to call you and ask him about Hancock's reign over mashel unit.  He should be able to clear it up for you and is very knowledgable.  Not all of the land up there is Hancock though.
