I would not expect to see to many big bucks durring the early season. If you know where to look you may fins some nice bucks but most wont show up untill later in the season.

Good luck over there.

There are some nice bucks in there early season but few and far between. No monsters but some nice 3 and 4 pointers. I saw a few bucks early season last year. I live in Ellensburg and don't think it is worth the drive unless you are going after a doe. And general rifle season is a zoo in that unit.

Well I went there at the end of march for shed hunting we found quite a few but only two were legal bucks. Were only going up there so my brother can get a deer but of there is a big doe in front of me I'm lettin er' fly l. How crowded is it up there early season is there alot of hunters up high or down low.

most of the sheds found in the unit are from migratory bucks as it is a great migration/ late unit. With alot of time and boot leather you can find a good local buck but as stated they are few and far between. You should have a good chance of finding a doe to shoot. good luck.

I went up to the Mad River turnoff. It'll still be hot over there in September, I can almost bet on it. But, it only takes one..

:yeah:  I know where a few are, too, but it's difficult hunting and you generally only see them first thing in the morning or maybe last light.  Bring a good pair of binos and a spotting scope and maybe you'll catch a couple laying down.  I've seen them in there as early as July (in fact, could have shot a couple of pretty decent bucks with archery equipment had I been hunting - so it's definitely possible.)  There are a few there, just kind of a tough hunt.  If you draw the unit, it would be a good "scouting hunt", though.

You will see people in that area for sure. In general there are usually more guys out the very first weekend but nothing compared to Modern. Depending on where you go you might see several trucks or nobody. We chase buck every year up there just to see them get blasted opening morning of rifle season. Lots of legal bucks around so you should have a great time. Beat the sun up and watch it set and you will see deer. Which GMU are you planning on hunting? Entiat, Swakane, Chiwawa, Slidge Ridge.....

You should be fine if your going to entiat. I went up there bear hunting last week. Saw some deer not a whole lot 8. 4 bucks and 4 does. Two nice 5x5s. 2 bears also. One of my buddies is goin bear hunting over there this weekend. I will tell you how that goes.
