regulation question

The way I read the regs is, as long as your bow is set to a minimum of 40lbs and you are shooting an arrow that is a minimum of 20" and is a minimum of 6gns per lb of draw weight, your draw length doesn't matter.  Is this correct?

Example.  My son has a bow set at 40lbs.  He shoots a 20" arrow that weighs in at 250gns.  His draw length is 20".  He's still legal to hunt with this setup?

Minimum legal arrow weight is 300 grains.

6 grains of arrow weight per pound of draw weight(so above 50lbs of draw weight your total arrow weight goes up from 300g)
arrow has to be at least 20" long

OK, so, lets make the arrow 22" and 300 grains.  Everything else being the same, is this legal?  I mean the KE would be around 13 ft/lbs.

I thought I read somewhere 35 to 40ft/lbs was adequate for deer.

As long as the arrow is atleast 20" long(longer is fine), the total arrow weight is no less the 300g up to 50 lbs of draw weight your legal. broadhead has to be atleast 7/8" wide

Legal yes, ethical?  And how close would you need to be to have an arrow with a KE of 13-15 ft/lbs drive into a deer?

any idea of the speed your sons bow is shooting? and I am trying to think of a good test object for you to see how it peneatrates maybe a rack of ribs then its time for a bbq?

Does that 6 gr per lb include the broadhead?  I shoot 66 lb draw,  29 in arrows with 100 gr slick tricks.  Currently I'm shooting 400 gr arrows, so I'm legal (6*66=396 gr min).  However, the charts show I should be shooting 330-370 gr arrows.  I'd like to shoot a 340 gr arrow but this would put me below the legal min of 396 gr for my draw weight. 

Now, if I add the 100 gr for broadhead, I'd be at 440 gr.  Would this make me legal?  Can you include the broadhead?  Technically, it's part of your shooting arrow weight.

ok so that software says.... 37lbs of kintec energy if you are at 300 for the arrow so should do the trick, I would personaly make it a close shot though
