noise reduction for pack frame
« on: August 24, 2011, 04:47:31 AM »
Where I go elk hunting its far enough in each day that I really don't want to walk back out to get my pack frame if I get a bull down. My pack frame is external frame aluminum, and very noisy when it rubs against branches. How would you guys recommend making it quiet so i can take it with me with enough gear for eaxh day?
Thanks!
Michael

Try wrapping it in that camo tape that has a felt-like surface.  I'm not sure what it's called, but I know it exists.

I stash mine in a tree if I feel its necessary or I am that far in.  Otherwise elk quarters are pretty easy to throw over your shoulder to pack out.  I usually have a good game bag in my daypack.  You'll note all the squeeks and rattles when you try to silence it.   I did just get a new pack that seems pretty quiet.

Some foam and duct tape
