One question?
«

This may or may not be in right forum and prob a dumb question.
Say I am out hunting grouse with my dog, and I see a bear. Can I shoot the bear? Or since I have a dog with me would it be considered hunting bears with a dog?

well not to be a smart ass but do you routinely shoot grouse with the same type of gun you use for bear hunting? and your second scenario is the likely one if pulled over and checked or checked in the field...

He could have a carry gun to shoot the bear with, but you probably shouldn't shoot the bear :bdid:The game warden probably wouldn't like that

That's what I was thinking too.
As far as shooting bear with the same gun, I seen some "bear" slugs for shotguns. I never hunted bear, but I buy the tag in case I see one when out there. But have yet to see one in the wild.

I say go for it .... the law says no hound hunting for bear and coug ... has nothen to do with your lab or pointer and chances of seeing a bear while grouse hunting is very possible because your hunting the grouse where the berries are so you have a good chance of nailing one !!

Does that mean I can have my lab with me while I hunt bear? What page does it say that on?

My boxer comes with me all the time. I figure worse case scenario i'll haved to hire a lawyer to get out of a fine. My boxer is more likely to be bear bait then a bear tracker. Oh wait not suppose to bait either.
Would appear that the use of hounds or bait are prohibited.
Also on page 72 #9 it prohibits you from having any dog accompany you during deer or elk season
while hunting deer or elk
.
Can't see where it says anything about bear season or otherwise.

I just found something on page 70 of the regs that says "hunting or pursuing any big game animal, bobcat or coyote with dogs is prohibited, except cougar hunting which is permitted by the fish and wildlife commision"
You can't seperate me and my dog in that way. You will still see me with my dog.

i say hell yeah, but when we had hounds we did know another houndsman whos best cat dog was a lab, the dog would even climb friggin trees, he didnt make it very high, but he was the only lab cat dog that i ever heard of, and i dont see in the regs that you cant shoot a bear while grouse huntn.....but i also think that if you dont see it you are to assume that it is illegal or else i would be trying my hand at spearing a bear, but hey if you find a legit answer could you let us know
