No-Tail Whitetail

Here is a whitetail buck with no tail. What do you think happened to it?? I have a trail cam on a paved road on some property I have listed for sale over by Gifford. It is behind a locked gate and I am monitoring the action on the road.

May have lost it to frostbite.? I was going to say freezer burn but that ain't right...
A buck I shot in 2009 was like that. Didn't notice till I was gutting it.
