Interesting coloring. Weird build on that bear. All the weight is in the rearend and a big ole noggin. Must have got some big hams off of it.
Did you mount it? I'd like to see the rug.

i found this spot three years ago and have seen many bears in this cut. lots of sign and a nice blackberry patch going through the middle. my brother took a sow in the same hole on opening weekend and i got him on the 19th....
in the morning my brother, cousin, and my buddy split up into two other clearcuts. i was going to the honey hole and no one else wanted to go. i parked about a mile up and hiked down the road. i set up when it was dark and waited watching the sun come over the hills. i hate the mosquitos in august!!! at about 7:30 i was looking to my right about 3-4 hundred yards away and could see a big brown spot working its way out of the timber and into the thick brush towards the berries. i decided to work my way down the road to him crawling on my knees and got up on a rock to get a closer shot. i couldnt see him yet and realized i forgot my binocs up the hill. this area is really thick and he could dissapear with a couple steps. i ran and grabbed them and when i got back i could just see him working his way through the berries into plain view. i could tell he was a boar by the size of his head and how long he was. i watched him for a minute feeding, letting myself settle down. when he gave me a broad side shot i hit him rite behind the shoulder with my tikka 7 mag at 96 yards. he pancaked and then started moving so i hit him again about two inches further back. he gave the death cry and it was over. i waited about ten minutes watching him making sure he wasnt going anywhere. it would be easy to loose him in the brush. i got on the phone to the other guys and couldnt get ahold of them so i started hiking back to my rig. i finally got ahold of two of them and we started driving back down. when i got out of the truck to show them where he was i looked over the hill and could see him (or what i thought was him) standing there in the same spot. same color phase and same size. he took off and my buddy ran down to a stump to take a shot and missed as he was bolting. we drove down the road to cut him off but he made it into the timber. at this point i was stumped...... i couldnt believe he got back up so i told the guys to get in the truck and we drove back up. i hopped out and glassed down the hill and could just see the ridge of his back. we hiked down , gutted him ,and packed him out whole on the quad. so it turns out that the bear i had shot had called the other one in(im guessing a brother) with the death cry. so remember to wait, listen, and keep your eyes open especially when they cry cause you never know what else could be out there. im making a rug out of him and should be getting it back anytime. my taxidermist scored him just over 19 and 3/4. cant wait for this season!!!!!!!!!!
