Archery Elk Guides/Outfitters
« on: August 05, 2011, 02:25:57 PM »
Found this site last week when searching for hunting guide.
55 and lived here all my life.  Hunt mostly birds, tried bowhunting 20 years ago and then family started.   My brother got me bowhunting in Idaho the last two years and I'm hooked.
Didn't put in for a tag so going general and thought going for Roosevelt might be fun.
Trying to find a good Outfitter/guide.  Any suggestions?

Thanks...

I would suggest contcacting a few guides/outfitters and begin getting a feel for what questions you want to ask, what various outfits offer, that kind of stuff. There is no one guide fits all. Do they hunt trophy animals, average game spotted, success rates? What type of lodging, meals? Do you hunt by horseback, walk in...

Lots of things to figure out before you know what you want to do. Be specific and up front about expectations.

I have spoke to many guides on the phone researching advice on packing out an elk with the minimal amount of spoilage. what I found that on the west of the cascades your lucky to find any guides that are resourceful for information and making contact with them is very hard. however, eastside oregon and washington the are respectful guides who are decent enough to return your calls and have the knowledge of the area you are hunting and yes bearpaw is the one. however if you are looking to move out of state montana and wyoming have many guides and you will not go wrong

If on the e side of WA looking for elk  or Norsepeak on here would be my first choice

I have not used him but Bearpaw has a very good rep for elk  and deer  out-of-state ( MT, ID, UT)
