Looking for Youth Bow
« on: June 20, 2008, 06:31:59 PM »
My buddy made my 4 year old a bow out of PVC and string and the arrows out of wood dowels.  It is sweet!  He has been shooting it everyday for about 3 months.  I am looking to buy him a very small youth bow since he is only 4.  Anyone got something that their kids have outgrown that they would like to sell or ideas of where I should start looking?  Don't want to invest a lot of $$ since I'm sure he will be wanting a better one every six months.  He is currently hitting a target at about 10 - 15 yards without sights.  I like the idea of him shooting without sights until he figures out what sights are.

Hornseeker sells an excellent youth bow if he has time and you want to spend a little bit.  Not the cheapest option for them, but its awesome.

Saw the Martin Tiger at the Nock Point today.  Sweet little kids bow.  Fully adjustable in both DL and weight.  Shoot through riser acts as arrow containment too.

I suppose that would be helpful until they get it down.  The girls have learned quick what causes that, so hopefully when the time comes and they graduated to a fulll sized hawk, they will know.

I think the way you are doing it with your girls is the way to go Bone.  I think learning instinctive on a traditional will form better habits and form in the long run should they ever switch to compound, they will be ahead of the game.
Great little family you got there.  Way to go in getting them involved.  Looks like a lot of fun with your kids.

Thank You!   I love the look of concentration in that last picture.  She is bound and determined to get herself a moose.  Too bad she'll never draw in Washington with the way the points are now.

Yeah, she is focused all right.  Judging by the grouping she has in the second to last pic, she should be able to wack an animal when the time comes!
Drawing the moose?  Does that really happen in this state anymore??
