If it's hot I use my Pella strap vest.  If it's cool out I have a Wall's jacket that I received as a Christmas gift one year that works pretty good.

I use a few depending on weather and what I am hunting.

I use a Wingworks vest for grouse and early Pheasant. (see my avatar) Just wear a blaze orange shirt or a Cabelas wind stopper upland jacket under it to be legal.

When it gets colder I will switch to a bird-n-lite coat that has zip off sleeves.

I actually am tending to lean more to the Winkworks vest as it has great support and carries water for the dog. I just layer up.

Check them out. Great guy and is really rugged.

Pretty much use my mothers upland day pack for 90% of my hunting.  I'll use my Cabelas upland coat (gortex) when it is colder than snot, but ironically I've found myself throwing the pack on over it.

Packs are nice when you are climbing up and down since you can really adjust your loads and carry them efficiently.   As well since I hunt 3-5 hours away from home often by myself I carry everything besides the kitchen sink for me and the dog.

Filson strap vest when it's hot, Filson hunting coat when it's cold, sometimes (rare) I use my Cabelas upland vest (see avatar).  The Cabelas vest is used most when I'm dog training.
