Does this look like bear scat??? Need your input
« on: September 06, 2011, 05:46:18 PM »
Ok you bear experts. I have 50 acres that holds a few bear. There is tons ripped up stumps all over but I haven't seen much other sign. The bears wander a pretty big territory so sometimes they are around and sometimes...well who knows where they go. Other properties. Last year 2 of them were on a neighboring property owners deck and they called WDFW to scare them off because they were afraid to go outside.  :chuckle:  :chuckle: Anyway, it seems they may be back and I was thinking of going after them. Lots of these piles but not very big, probably a small bear.

We have other animals on the property like coyotes, bobcat and even a cougar from time to time. Whatever this scat is from it has been eating from some wild cherry trees on the property. So my question is, does this look like bear scat or possibly a coyote with the runs from eating cherries.  :dunno: Need your input....thanks all!   ;)

Well, Back now. Didn't see anything. Funny thing is that every day there is a fresh pile in almost the exact same spot. Maybe a foot away. I wonder if he is leaving these piles in the morning or at night. Guess I better get myself a cam to set out. I saw some berry bushes that looked stripped. Nothing left except the very top leaves. Funny thing is that I know those bushes didn't have a chance to produce yet there are blackberries untouched just a few feet away. I wonder what that is about?   :dunno:

Looks like Bear Scat to me.

It would help if you would put something next to the pile before taking the picture to use as a size comparison.
