mossyrock unit closed for fire danger
« on: September 10, 2011, 12:35:29 PM »
all the timber co land in the mossyrock unit has closed for fire danger. Port Blakely closed on wed, weyerhaeuser on thur, ORM, and fish and wildlife are also closed. this is the first time i've ever seen all the public land in the unit closed!!! i want a refund on my tag! the only thing open is national forest (which there isn't any in the mossyrock unit), and it's a joke with all the hunters, hikers, and berry pickers.

Well, you've still got late season.

BTW, what is "ORM"?

Olympic resource management, they bought most of the ranier land in the unit. and i don't hunt late season. i typically hunt the winston, but it's all closed too. so in other words i'm screwed for early season. there's always montana to look forward to

Port Blakely, Weyerhaeuser, ORM, are Private land open to hunters as a courtesy.

If your talking about the piece that borders the winston creek unit off of longbell rd.  I heard it was weyerhaeuser.

Not the piece we are talking about.  The winston creek side is DNR and Port Blakley.

Did you go look at the parcell's of state land?  I'm guessing you didn't.  Because if you did you would have seen that every piece that is listed is south of longbell rd.  Which is the winston creek unit.  Not the Mossyrock unit.  And it looks like Weyerhaeuser bought a whole bunch of Rayonier land north of Longbell rd. (which is the mossyrock unit and the area this thread is talking about) on 7-7-11.

There is tons of State land in the 505 you just have to learn where to go. Traveling up the winston creek rd pass long bell and keep going over the creek most of the land on both the left and the right is DNR or state land.

Ya this closure bit me in the butt yesterday morning. I work graveyard and decided to take off work a couple hours early yesterday mornong so that I could get into my honey hole before light and when I got there it was all closed up for fire danger. :bash: :bash: Man I was pissed, I guess it's my fault for not calling the access hotline 1st, but it was open last weekend so I figured I was golden.
To God alone be the Glory!!

If you are going up winston creek rd and you pass longbell rd your in the Winston creek unit, not the Mossyrock unit.  Learn your units.
