D@#n the 113
« on: September 12, 2011, 12:44:33 AM »
Just spent three long hard days up in 113 chasing elk up and down mountains like this / covered in loud waist high brush and thick timber and temps in the 90's to no avail. The elk would not make a peep except for one bull that I thought was another hunter his bugle sounded so short, sharp and weird. There was fresh scat and fresh tracks all over but the only other evidence was the one close encounter with the young bull that made a funny noise. So after about 23 miles of boot leather I am going back to work in hopes of a more productive weekend next week. It was still loads of fun, and worth all of the sweat. I got to spend some quality time with my brother, and in the off time got to pick some huckleberries. Thanks for listening to my rant. I can't wait until next weekend

Yes, the bulls seem to be very quiet this season so far.  Neither of the two bulls we got were talking.  And yes, it was hot.  Good luck next weekend.  When I had my Selkirk moose tag last year it was 85 at 6000' on the first two days of the season.
