Just curious as to how the woods can be shut down? nice bull by the way, I would love to get one like that

We've got private timber companies over here in Washington.  :chuckle:  They shut them down for fire danger, no access period, not even walking in.  :bash:

Oh ok that makes sense. Thanks.

so heres the story. me and my buddy had been hunting to the first three days. well on thursday i decided i wanted to walk down another road and to check out a clear cut i had seen elk in. so doing that put me about a half hour behind my buddy who was going to our regular spot were we agreed we would meet if i didnt see anything. so after walking to the clear cut and not seeing anything i headed to our spot. about 100 yrds before our meeting spot i see my buddy walkin down the road with his hands up. he tells me he had just shot a bull and that he was goin to get the pack boards and call some buddies. he told me to go up to the landing and walk downt the clear cut to start looking for blood. so i did. i was on the landing just taking a breather before i start tracking him down wen i hear somthing on the hillside walkin around. so i sit and waited thinkin it was my buddies elk milling around gettin ready to die. as im glassin this elk from the landing i can see its definatly a bull. it then pops its head out of the timber and while he was walkin out i came to notcie that this bull didnt have an arrow in it and was shot at all. so here this bull is 85 yrds away standing walking into the clear cut feeding. me standing at the top of this landing in plain sight like a dumb ass. so i neal down get my composer cow call twice. and peek over the stump i was behind. hes walking right to me........... so i start ranging him. 85....70......65.....59....50. hes in range so i stop him with a cow call and draw back . he kinda spins quatering away from me. i put the arrow right behind his last rib goin right to his heart. but at first i thought the shot was way to far back an immediatly paniced. but as he walked away i see after 10 steps hes already gettin the weeble wobbles.  then boom 25 feet from were i shot him he folds up and dies......... and i was a happy guy!!!!! also my buddy didnt ever find his bull we tracked blood. for miles but lost it and had to leave. woods are now shut down so we cant even go look for it.

I think we met the day you killed your elk.  :dunno: We were just getting back when you and your buddy were heading in to get it packed out.  I had a tall blue F350.
