The Truest of True Spikes!
«

Tagged out with the true spike. It was a good 9/11 for both me and brother in law. Three were taken in camp. Only got to hunt for two days, so I will see if I cant head back to help out Pops and others in camp.
My dad spooked a herd out of a waller, which then blew by my brother in law...the herd lost a spike there...it was his first elk and he was stoked. He drilled it at 15 yards.
About three minutes later, they caught up to my blind and had slowed down, started to graze...I was able to pull back without gettin spotted by the first 4 cows and 5 calves, using a tree infront of me....the true spike was bringing up the rear (with lots more on the way)....settled on the 20/30 pins, aiming down hill, arrow slammed in, stuck half way...he spun with the heard and began to run downhill, but fell over in 15 feet or so. He rolled down hill and passed away pretty much instantly. Double lunged!
So now, we have two elk to get out and its 96 degrees! I stayed and gutted mine, while my bro in law boned his out. My little bro went to help him and me and another buddy drug mine out to the bottom of the hill where a road was waiting. Tossed mine in the truck, dear old dad went up to camp to hang it for me, and I hiked back up with water and more packs to help with the meat of my bro in law. We got his out bout dusk.
All in all, everything went smooth...even got to shoot a rattle snake while we were packing out the meat! So, three elk, down...adding pics...

My elk, I had to tie the head to a tree to keep him from rolling down hill!
