"FN" Model 70 Featherweight
« on: September 08, 2011, 08:55:06 PM »
Here's my SC production Featherweight in 270WSM.  I really like this rifle and after smoking a bear with it last weekend I like it AND the caliber even more.  Shot the bear with factory 150 grain partitions...devastating.

It sounds like it's time to get a new gun.

Nice looking rifle. You just don't see enough wood stocks anymore. I hunt with synthetics most of the time these days, but you can't beat the look of a wood stock.

Was looking at one in 300 WSM.  Had a very nice feel to it...
By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.

Some guys don't like the enclosed MOA trigger....I love it!  My next rifle will be another FN Featherweight in stainless.

That stock is almost too pretty to take out in the woods. Great caliber choice as well. I need to get a 270 of some kind to fill a gap in my collection, and the 270 WSM is pretty high on the list right now. After seeing a 150gr bullet from a 7mm WSM cut clean through my T-1 steel plate gong, I can only inagine what a 130gr 270 will do to it! :yike:

Nice looking gun and a nice caliber. I am thinking a 300 mag would recoil pretty good in that gun though....  :dunno:

Thanks.  Yeah, the stock caught my eye and I bought it more for that than the caliber.  It just happened to be a 270wsm and that filled the bill for me.  I was looking for a Featherweight with a nice wood stock.  I bought it to hunt with and I do expect a few battle scars eventually, but that's ok.

As far as a 300 mag and recoil goes, i don't think it would be too bad.  The "Featherweight" is a bit of a misnomer in that these rifles aren't really that light.  This rifle as you see it weighs 8lbs 8.5oz.  Kinda heavy.
