Great bull, cant complain about that on the last day.  Late hunt sucks anyway bunch of Joes up there racing around in the snow... equals no fun.

This wasn't the biggest bull we saw but I couldn't pass him up given the limited amount of hunting we had in the early season. I hope the late season produces a bull for my brother.
My brother and i found out friday that we were going to be able to hunt the margerat unit again since it had been closed for fire danger. Saturday we headed into a spot that we had been wanting to try , it was pouring rain and the wind was howling. We got into this bull with about 10 cows and a small 4 point working there way up a ridge in the timber. We split up ,my brother worked his way up the next ridge to get in front of them and i just slipped up the ridge i was on and hung out. After about a half hour they worked there way right to me. The cows and the 4 point were 20 yards from me, but the 5 point was busy running around gathering his cows up. He came within 20 yards a couple of times and i drew back each time but couldnt get a clean shot. A cow finally walked right up to me and stared right at me,i froze but after she stared at me for about a minute she barked and it was game over. They took off out of that patch of timber across a road into another patch. We decided to go into that patch from the opposite end ,we no sooner stepped into the timber and heard a deep bugle right below us. We slipped down the ridge and found a big 6 point with his herom,we got within 30 yards of this bull but all we could see of him was his head and neck.Eventually a cow busted us with that herd and they ran into a patch of reprod. That pretty much wrapped that day up.Sunday we went right back to the same spot. The way the wind was blowing we went into the timber from the end we had run the first herd from saturday as we worked our way through we could hear a few bugles from where we had las t seen the six point. It took us a couple hours to work our way to where we heard them. We split up and worked our way up the ridge to where  they were. Just i was cresting the ridge i could see an elk. I couldnt tell what it was yet , i ranged it at 40 yards. It stepped out and i could see he was the 5 point from the previous day.I drew back anchored my 40 yard pin behind his soulder and the arrow hit perfect. He only went 30 yards and stacked up.I could still hear the bigger bull screaming out the ridge alittle further. My brother came close to getting him but it didnt work out.Turns out both herds ended up on the same ridge togethr which is why they were so worked up.

I'm impressed by the fact that apparently you put him into the back of your truck WHOLE!!
