High Hunt Bear
« on: September 25, 2011, 11:31:59 AM »
Well I went into the wilderness on the 23rd planning on staying through the close only to happen upon this chocolate bear Saturday morning.  Watched her for about 5 minutes in and out of the trees and rocks before she presented a shot at approximately 100-125 yards.  Dropped her where she stood with my trusty .308 and then the work began.  Thanks to my dad and buddy carrying some of my gear we were able to get everything out in one trip.  My pack was 100+ lbs on the way out but it beats multiple trips.  No deer to be seen, I think they got pushed pretty hard for the opener.  I'll take a nice bear any day.
